Keep Your Lawn Looking Good!!

During these hot summer months it can be a challenge to keep your lawn looking green and healthy.  Here are a few tips to keep that lawn looking lush.

1. Lawn Watering

Of course summer lawn care will consist of frequent watering, but do you really understand the proper way to use your sprinkler most proficiently when the weather heats up? The first step is watering at the correct time of day, which is going to be either early in the morning or later in the evening. Most lawn care experts choose the morning hours, since leaving the grass wet at night may lead to a better chance of a variety of lawn diseases. Make sure you apply enough water to soak into the ground at least six inches, since this will promote more robust root growth, which leads to a healthier lawn.

2. Lawn Fertilizing

Most people also know that summer lawn care needs to include normal feedings for our grass, but cautionshould be taken in the hottest weather when putting chemicals onto our lawn.  Call Happy Turf Professional Lawn Service at 262-697-5013 to ensure your lawn is properly fertilized.

3. Lawn Mowing-

It may seem that the mowing is never done when it comes to lawn care. However, although it may be tempting to maintain your grass short during the summer months to reduce the frequency of your mowing, shorter grass does not retain moisture and dries out more rapidly. For Kentucky blue grass, it is best to keep your lawn height to three or three-and-a-half inches tall during the warmest part of the summer. When the weather cools down a bit, you can reduce that length by an inch or so. Part of good summer lawn care is giving that little bit of length to keep grass moist and lush when the sun is beating down on it.

Summer lawn care is not horribly complicated, but there are some adjustments that you should make when the really hot weather strikes. By following these summer lawn care tips, you will be able to enjoy that lush carpet of green all summer long.
